Where to Go — Set-Jetting in 2026

Once it was a glossy brochure or a travel agency poster that sparked wanderlust. Today, it’s a favourite TV series or film.

By Karen Burshtein

The phenomenon of set-jetting—where travellers visit  the gorgeous sites of their beloved shows and movies—think Eat, Pray, Love or Gladiator—has become a huge travel trend. Studies suggest that more than half of global travellers are inspired to visit a destination after seeing it on screen. There’s something appealing about stepping into the world you binge watched from your couch, or a darkened cinema. You’re connecting emotionally with a place while enjoying a truly immersive travel experience.

In 2026, the film and tourism industries have never been more intertwined—especially on both sides of the English Channel.

France—Bien sûr!

You already know Amélie’s Montmartre neighbourhod and her corner haunt Le Café des Deux Moulins. You’ve admired the charming 5th arrondissement where Emily lives (and overdresses) in Emily in Paris. Emily may have moved on to Rome, but France remains centre stage, especially for fans of The White Lotus.

There’s much speculation around the location of the show’s fourth season, whether it  will be set somewhere in France, with travel sleuths narrowing it down to Paris, the Côte d’Azur or the chic alpine resort of Megève. All three destinations have a gorgeous Four Seasons property, the same luxury brand that hosted the show’s previous settings in Maui,  and Taormina, Sicily.  After those seasons aired, both locations saw a 300% increase in travel searches.

Must Try Indulge in an unforgettable meal at Le George restaurant in the Art Deco masterpiece, Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris.

The Wild, Windswept Corners of the British Isles

There was a huge bump in visits to Bath’s grand Georgian streets, palatial manors, and museums with Holbeins after the hit Regency-era series Bridgerton aired. Season four promises more tea-sipping scenes. Fans can even visit The Abbey Deli, which doubles as the Modiste dress shop in the series.  Meanwhile, Hamnet, the historical drama inspired by Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, was filmed across Herefordshire in the West Midlands, especially around picturesque medieval Weobley.

Some of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein was filmed on a Toronto soundstage, but Scotland served as a suitably Gothic backdrop for the most drool-worthy scenes. The director live tweeted his stay at Norwood Hall Hotel in Aberdeen in what he said was a haunted hotel.

The subversive adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi with soundtrack by Charli XCX, will lure visitors to the rugged Yorkshire Dales, including Arkengarthdale where you should take the circular Muker to Keld walk to see corduroy-like green hills, bracken and heather. Then dine and bed down at the cosy Punch Bowl Inn in the heart of the Dales.

Must Try Visit Highclere Castle, the real-life Downton Abbey, to bid farewell to the franchise.
