to detail in every corner of the mountain. There’s a
local charm here that reminds me of visiting Europe
as a child, before everything became commercial-
ized. The restaurants are locally owned, there are no
fashion boutiques or big chains, and everyone is
here for the same reason: they genuinely love to ski.
Snow Hosts with the Most
One of my favourite parts of skiing at Big White is
the Snow Hosts, the friendly volunteer guides in
bright orange jackets offering complimentary moun-
tain tours every morning. While they’re not formal
lessons, they’re a wonderful way to explore the ter-
rain with knowledgeable ski insiders who share tips,
restaurant suggestions, and fun stories.
Ski with the Locals
Beyond the official program, we always seem to meet
the friendliest locals on the chairlifts. Over the years,
I’ve skied with so many interesting people who’ve
generously shared their favourite spots with me. I’ve
even crossed paths with visitors from my own
province and from far-off places.
No matter where they’re from, everyone seems to
share one thing: once they discovered Big White Ski
Resort, they never looked back. They return year after
year, just like we do.
It’s encounters like these that make this moun-
tain village resort feel like a true community, not
just a place to ski. The only real problem? It’s hard to
leave. As we make our way home wearing our Big
White toques, the tradition that marks every great
trip, we’re already thinking about the next one. And
we know it won’t be long before we’re back.
