FALL IN LOVE WITH FALL
IN MYRTLE BEACH
Discover why they call it “secret summer”
in South Carolina’s favourite beach town
BY MARK STACHIEW
From the hotel balcony, the sound of
crashing surf drifts up, the salty breeze
carrying hints of sunscreen and fried
hush puppies from the boardwalk below.
Along Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Boulevard, neon
lights flicker to life and carnival rides spin
against the evening sky. Though the calendar
marks fall, the air still holds summer’s warmth.
A Myrtle Beach local leans in and whispers, “Fall
is our secret summer.”
Fall reveals its own charm in this South Carolina
coastal destination, offering natural beauty,
mouth-watering food, cultural treasures, and
unmatched southern hospitality. Myrtle Beach
provides the perfect setting to reset, reconnect,
and feel at home—a destination cherished by
Canadians for generations.
With fewer crowds and temperatures in the
mid- to high-20s Celsius, the season invites out-
door adventures. Even in winter’s coldest months,
a cool yet pleasant 14 degrees and a soothing
ocean allow for refreshing swims.
Time to Hit the Links
Milder weather also sets the stage for golf, and
Myrtle Beach, known as “The Golf Capital of the
World,” offers countless courses to explore. The
Myrtle Beach Snowbird Golf Passport unlocks dis-
counts at more than 70 courses, along with
savings at local businesses. Passholders can bring
up to three guests for discounted rounds, turning
a day on the links into a social experience.
For miniature golf enthusiasts, Myrtle Beach
doubles as the “Miniature Golf Capital of the
World,” with over 30 whimsically themed courses.
Pirate ships, volcanoes, jungles and dinosaurs
await on creatively designed holes, each offering a
playful challenge.
Golf isn’t the only draw.
Time to Hit The Grand Strand
The Grand Strand features 14 distinct coastal
communities spanning nearly 100 continuous
kilometres of sandy shoreline from Little River
near the North Carolina border down past
Georgetown, South Carolina. Scenic drives along
the strand highlight fall foliage, typically peaking
between mid-October and November.
Time for Nature
Outdoor lovers can explore Myrtle Beach State Park
or Huntington Beach State Park, beachcombing
